Lightweight shingle matrix prototype

Heliup and CEA

Date of achievement of result
Result has been achieved in July 2024, month 9 of the project.

HELIUP successfully laminated the first lightweight shingle matrix prototype with the TOPCon matrices that F-ISE manufactured!

  • Objective: the targeted objective was to produce and test the first SPHINX lightweight module for the upcoming demonstration.
  • Research: The lamination was done by Heliup at their pilot line in Bourget du Lac. Everything went well, no cell breakage have been reported (not even by the very first attempt(!) and the shingle handling went smoother than expected.
  • Result: Ageing tests in climatic chambers are currently ongoing in order to choose the most suitable BOM which will be further used in the project.
  • What will it be used for: This is linked to the project Objectives (#3) on the integration and demonstration of IPV solutions in the construction value chain.
  • Impact: Solarisation of existing buildings with adapted and guaranteed solutions such as HLP’s lightweight PV modules provide a convenient and efficient way to produce energy without new artificialization of lands. At system level, with the material reduction >75% in weight compared to grounded systems, HLP systems contribute to the energy production with low environmental impact, for commercial and industrial roof applications.
