Noise Barriers and SalvaTerra

SPHINX partners Fraunhofer ISE, ETWAY and M10 managed to install, in Merdingen (Germany) the different stretches for the new SPHINX noise barriers. Performances will be monitored by Fraunhofer-ISE and M10

The demonstrator consists of three functional stretches:

  • Stretch 1 – “Sound Solar Panel Evolution”: triangular steel acoustic panels hosting custom PV modules without frames.
  • Stretch 2 – “VertiSol”: a vertical PV noise barrier composed of standard-format PV modules mounted in dedicated aluminium frames.
  • Stretch 3 – “Green Photovoltaic Barrier”: six self-supporting SalvaTerra units. SalvaTerra is a photovoltaic planter system in Corten steel providing vertical PV generation, integrated cabling, and space for vegetation (read more here).

It was an exhausting, but very productive time.
