SPHINX partners Fraunhofer ISE, ETWAY and M10 managed to install, in Merdingen (Germany) the different stretches for the new SPHINX noise barriers. Performances will be monitored by Fraunhofer-ISE and M10
The demonstrator consists of three functional stretches:
- Stretch 1 – “Sound Solar Panel Evolution”: triangular steel acoustic panels hosting custom PV modules without frames.
- Stretch 2 – “VertiSol”: a vertical PV noise barrier composed of standard-format PV modules mounted in dedicated aluminium frames.
- Stretch 3 – “Green Photovoltaic Barrier”: six self-supporting SalvaTerra units. SalvaTerra is a photovoltaic planter system in Corten steel providing vertical PV generation, integrated cabling, and space for vegetation (read more here).
It was an exhausting, but very productive time.
