Advancing Circularity in the Photovoltaic Industry: Key Outcomes from the EVERPV Scientific Workshop, held on the 2nd July 2026.

The EVERPV Scientific Workshop brought together researchers, industrial stakeholders and recycling experts to discuss the future of photovoltaic (PV) circularity in Europe. The event highlighted recent advances in PV recycling technologies and explored the challenges and opportunities associated with creating a sustainable and circular PV value chain.

The objective of the workshop was to share the latest achievements of the EVERPV project and foster discussions among experts on the future of photovoltaic recycling and circularity in Europe. The event aimed to identify pathways towards a more sustainable management of end-of-life solar panels and to promote collaboration across the PV value chain.
The workshop presented research activities addressing the recovery and reuse of key materials contained in photovoltaic modules, including glass, silver and polymers. Partners showcased innovative delamination, separation and purification technologies designed to improve recycling efficiency and material quality. Discussions also focused on the technical, economic and regulatory aspects required to enable large-scale implementation of circular PV solution.

A key outcome of the workshop was the confirmation that significant progress is being made towards transforming photovoltaic waste into valuable secondary raw materials. Participants highlighted advances in material recovery technologies and agreed that achieving PV circularity will require a combination of technological innovation, supportive regulations and viable business models. The discussions reinforced the importance of developing end-of-life solutions capable of supporting the rapid growth of solar energy deployment across Europe.
The insights gathered during the workshop will help guide future research, industrial development and policy discussions related to photovoltaic recycling. The outcomes will contribute to improving recycling processes, increasing material recovery rates and supporting the creation of circular business models for the European solar industry.

As Europe continues to expand solar energy generation, ensuring sustainable management of end-of-life PV modules becomes increasingly important. The workshop strengthened collaboration between research organisations, industrial actors and recycling experts while helping to establish a shared vision for a circular photovoltaic economy. These efforts contribute to reducing waste, preserving valuable resources and supporting Europe’s energy transition goals.
