I am originally from Italy where I studied Physics, in 2004 I moved to the Netherlands where I got my PhD from TU Delft, specializing in organic electronics. After a short time at the university after my studies I joined Uniresearch in 2010 as scientific consultant and proejct manager.
Uniresearch aims to support projects and consortia working on technical innovations related to energy transition and the SPHINX project fit perfectly this scope since it focuses on developing cost-effective, aesthetically pleasing photovoltaic solutions and cutting-edge technology, driving Europe towards a sustainable and low-impact energy future.
What was your original motivation to become a researcher/project manager?
While really enjoying fundamental research I realised at some point the interest on discovering and following up the possible applications of specific technical innovations. Having the possibility to work on projects going beyond fundamental science is giving me the possibility to better understand, follow and contribute to the necessary and crucial challenge of energy transition.
What is your (main) research area today?
Beside supporting the management of dissemination of the SPHINX project, we work on different sectors linked to renewable energies (not only on PV but also hydrogen technology, electrification of transport and new batteries development).
What is the main focus of your team in SPHINX?
Within the SPHINX project, Uniresearch is responsible of the daily project monitoring and main administration of the project (supporting our coordinator VOLTEC). We are also the appointed Dissemination and Communication manager.
Could you describe your favourite moment/satisfaction when working for the project and – more in general – for your organisation?
We had the pleasure and honour to contribute to the proposal writing and project definition, once the proposal has been accepted for funding and could officially start was the moment, so far, I felt the most proud of being part of this group. In addition, I am looking forward to the phase the project is entering when more products and development will be achieved.
How do you expect SPHINX results will affect your organisation and the energy storage sector?
Uniresearch is focusing on supporting the SPHINX partners to establish their goals and targets within the project with regards to the demonstration of new Building integrated PV solutions, and I hope that the partners see us for support and assistance with the project management and / or dissemination activities in follow-up projects.
Which partner would you like to nominate next for this coffee break?
I would like to nominate CSEM.
