Renewable Energy India (REI) 2026 is India’s leading photovoltaic trade fair, comparable to Intersolar in Germany. Under this year’s theme, “Engineering India’s Net Zero Economy,” it brings together technology providers, manufacturers and decision-makers from across the renewable-energy sector. The exhibition is complemented by a high-level conference featuring speakers from industry, politics and research.
SPHINX Brings European BIPV Innovation to Renewable Energy India 2026
At Renewable Energy India (REI) 2026, M10 Solar Equipment GmbH showcased how European innovation can help shape India’s rapidly expanding solar market. Through a conference presentation attended by around 100 representatives from industry, policy and research, M10 introduced the SPHINX project and its vision for high-performance, aesthetically integrated photovoltaics.

A key attraction at the M10 exhibition space was a BIPV demonstrator module, which gave visitors a practical impression of the project’s approach. The module featured MorphoColor® films developed by Fraunhofer ISE—technology that SPHINX partner FREESUNS is currently testing in selected solar roof tiles. Although an original SPHINX roof tile was not available for shipment in time, the demonstrator, informally referred to as the “Gandhi Module”, sparked considerable interest and led M10 was represented by Nils Klasen, Technology Manager, who attended the exhibition and conference to connect with stakeholders in one of the world’s most dynamic solar markets. India’s rapidly growing PV sector, combined with ambitious plans to establish domestic manufacturing capacity across the entire value chain, offers significant opportunities for European technology providers. The strong visitor response confirmed a clear and growing interest in BIPV and integrated PV solutions.
Fraunhofer ISE, a SPHINX project partner and the developer of MorphoColor® , also attended REI 2026 with a delegation and contributed a further presentation to the conference programme. While no other EU-funded projects were represented, the presence of M10 and Fraunhofer ISE demonstrated the strength of European collaboration in advancing innovative solar technologies.
With approximately 65,000 visitors and more than 1,200 exhibitors, REI 2026 provided an outstanding platform for SPHINX to increase visibility, engage with the Indian solar community and explore future pathways for international cooperation.
