Get a coffee with Jérémie Aimé from CEA

Jérémie Aimé joined French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energies Commission (CEA) in 2019 as head of power electronics and Pv systems laboratory. He became head of applied systems laboratory in 2021. In 2009 Jérémie graduated for his PhD on radiated far field of power converters with a focus on EMC in power electronics. He worked in industry in France on the electrothermal design of inductors, transformers at Exxelia, in Singapore on medium voltage solutions at Fuji Electric, then in France at Altair on eletromagnetic simulation software and in Schneider Electric as expert in electromagnetic compatibility of systems.

Jérémie also participate to the writing of SPHINX proposal and leads the team involved in the project.

What was your original motivation to become a researcher/project manager?
My main motivation to become a team manager oriented to the research and development was to work closely with experts on topics that made sense related to the energy transition. Sovereignty is an important element as well.

What is your (main) research area today?
My research area today covers PV panels reliability and durability, PV systems design and diagnostic and circular economy with recycling and second-life of PV panels.

What is the main focus of your team in SPHINX?
The main focus of the team in SPHINX is to bring a support for qualifying lightweight PV panels from HELIUP with SHINGLE MATRIX developped by FRAUNHOFER institute. CEA perfoms characterizations and accelerating ageing tests to provide reliability assessment.

Could you describe your favourite moment/satisfaction when working for the project and – more in general – for your organisation?
Favorite moments are when teams are able to collaborate and find solutions on problems that were not expected.

How do you expect SPHINX results will affect your organisation and the PV sector?
SPHINX project will reinforce and encourage the manufacturing in Europe of innovative solutions with combined expertise and industrialization capabilities from different countries in Europe.
